Introducing Jonathan

Jonathan Gilbert specialises in defending complex and high-value pre-litigation and litigated insurance claims, primarily focusing on large loss and catastrophic loss claims for insurer clients.

He works on a variety of diffuse axonal, subtle and catastrophic brain injury claims as well as complex orthopaedic, spinal cord injury and somatoform disorder claims.

Acquired over his years in practice, Jonathan has accumulated extensive technical experience. This knowledge, combined with his constant pursuit for operational efficiency, innovation and integration of seamless quality service provisions, ensures that he provides our insurer clients with a high level of service and consistently achieves enviable results.

Jonathan plays a key role in knowledge sharing, client training and employee mentoring to ensure the consistent and unrivalled quality of service and advice within our Large Loss team. He also supports and manages three specialist large loss lawyers.

Utilising his contract litigation experience, Jonathan is regularly instructed to assist insurers in the development of their products and works with underwriting teams on drafting technical aspects of policy wordings.

Jonathan’s route to partnership was via the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, combining demanding degree-level legal studies with the practical experience of working within litigation teams from the outset.

His expertise is based upon an enviable foundation of high-quality training, having been personally mentored by a nationally-respected catastrophic loss specialist.

Jonathan is one of only a small number of lawyers to have defended a case in the Supreme Court, which has provided him with a skillset and experience that very few lawyers ever have the opportunity to acquire, instilling his clients with confidence in his high-level litigation abilities.
